Keeping Your Addresses Current

To be in compliance on the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) that USCIS has implemented for processing I-20s, international students are required to maintain accurate and up-to-date address information at all times. If you do not list your correct address, it could prevent the issuance of your I-20 and delay other important University mail.

You can view your addresses (and update them if necessary) on URSA Online, UCLA's Web portal which students use to access their student records.

You must keep the following addresses current:

Permanent Address

All international students are required to list their home-country address as their permanent address. Do not list a U.S. address or a post office box.

If, at the time that we issue your I-20, you still have a U.S. address on file as your Permanent address, our office will change it to match the Permanent address listed on your Confidential Financial Statement (CFS). This action will update your Permanent address for all UCLA records, not just for I-20 purposes.

Mailing Address

All documents from UCLA--including the I-20--will be sent to your mailing address. If your mailing address is the same as the mailing address you listed on your application you do not need to make any changes (unless the address is a post office box--see third note below).

Please note:

  • The address you fill in on your Confidential Financial Statement (CFS) must correspond with your mailing address on URSA, so if you provide a new address there, you should also update your mailing address in URSA.
  • If your address will change between now and the time you move to Los Angeles (and you know your new address ahead of time), URSA allows you the option to enter a "Future" Mailing Address, along with the date that the new address will become effective.
  • Your mailing address must be a street address; you cannot use a post office box.

E-mail Address

UCLA administrative offices use this address to send a variety of official notices (such as the student bill e-mail reminder) to students, so it is very important that we have a correct e-mail address for you and that you check your e-mail regularly.
