The transition from high school to college will be smoother if you make thoughtful and timely decisions about housing, orientation, and other programs. This checklist will guide you through the process.

Step 1: Accept admission, apply for honors and housing [March-April]

Step 2: Plan for New Student Orientation, supply needed information [May-July]

Action/Event Deadline
Report changes in your high school academic record or mailing address
as needed, before the end of your last pre-UCLA class
Request your I-20 to obtain your student visa [international students only, F-1 and J-1 visas] after you accept your offer of admission to UCLA
Complete your Educational Planner [required to sign up for Orientation] May 6, 2013
Sign up for New Student Orientation - signups begin: May 6, 2013
Review the Hepatitis B Requirement [students age 18 or younger] May 6, 2013
Take the Analytical Writing Placement Examination May 11, 2013
Apply for your BruinCard July 1, 2013
Send us official high school transcripts and test scores July 1, 2013
Take online Math Diagnostic Test before you attend Orientation
Apply for parking July 19, 2013
Complete Part 1 the online course, AlcoholEdu for College July 22, 2013

Step 3: Attend New Student Orientation, enroll in classes [July-September]

Take placement exams [language, music theory] at Orientation
Enroll in your Fall 2013 classes at Orientation
Get your first UCLA Degree Audit at Orientation

Step 4: Prepare for classes [September]

Pay tuition and other fees September 20, 2013
Enroll in or waive UC Student Health Insurance Plan [UC SHIP] September 20, 2013
Submit final Hepatitis B information [students age 18 or younger] September 20, 2013
Fall quarter classes begin September 23, 2013
