Coming to UCLA--
Special Information for Admitted International Students

To receive an F-1 (student) visa, you need an I-20 form (Certificate of Eligibility for the F-1). For undergraduates at UCLA, this form is issued by the Undergraduate Admissions office. The federal agency that oversees the I-20 process is the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), formerly known as the Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS).

What you need to do

• Accept your offer of admission to UCLA
  We can only issue the I-20 once you have officially accepted your offer of admission to UCLA.
• Send required documents to Undergraduate Admissions
  We need several things from you before we can issue your I-20:
  - Confidential Financial Statement (CFS)
  - Copy of the name/picture page of your passport
  - Transcripts and test scores
• Have your current school release your SEVIS record to UCLA
  You only have to do this if you currently attend a school in the U.S.
• Keep your addresses current
  - permanent address (outside the U.S.)
  - mailing address (where you live now and where you will live
    as a UCLA student)
  - email address
• Register for the Mandatory New Student Workshop
  You are required to attend this workshop for new international students given by the Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars (DCISS) at the beginning of your first term at UCLA.

  This page itemizes the costs that are used to calculate the minimum amount of funds we require international students to have before they can be issued an I-20.
• Mandatory health insurance
  As a condition of registration, all international students are required have adequate health insurance.

  UCLA does not offer financial aid to international students. But there are other organizations that can help.
