Political Science*

To be considered for this major, you must have completed at least three preparatory courses by the spring before transfer.

• four of the following courses:
  • introduction to political theory
  • international relations/world politics
  • introduction to American government/politics ^[1]
  • introduction to comparative politics ^[1]
  • politics and strategy
• one course in statistics ^[1]
  Note: All statistics courses used towards meeting the requirement for this major must be approved courses. Check the articulation agreements on ASSIST to see if your college offers an approved statistics course.

1. AP exams (US/Comparative Government, Statistics) do not satisfy UCLA's lower division Political Science major preparation. Check the articulation agreements on ASSIST to see if your college offers approved coursework.

* Demand for this major significantly exceeds space available. You must be admitted directly into this major; you will not be able to change to this major after admission to UCLA. Students are classified as Pre-Political Science until they complete the preparation courses at UCLA.
