Sculpture Garden West The Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden (1967) is located directly behind Bunche Hall. An idea of former Chancellor Dr. Franklin Murphy, it spans almost 5 acres and now holds over 70 pieces of sculpture, most of which are bronze, made in the 20th Century. The Sculpture Garden is the perfect spot for contemplation. The UCLA Art Council, the UCLA Alumni Association, and private donors have contributed to the substantial collection. With more than 70 works by 51 artists including Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro, Isamu Noguchi and David Smith, it is the largest garden on the West Coast and one of the most distinguished outdoor sculpture collections in the country.
